Dear Students,
for today's class you need to open your books page 145. Look at exercise
3 Pronunciation. It's very important to listen to the recording carefully and repeat the sentences paying attention to the pronunciation and intonation. When HAVE is after
would the vowel is weakened to
schwa. /hǝv/ Practice the
dictation sentences in b. Find the key in the Folder attached at the end of this post.
To practise the
third conditional more, do the exercises on the PDF in the Folder. there are sentences of the three types of conditionals and the key is included.
Now go to page 146 of your books.
Reading Comprehension. Read the text about luck and do exercises b and c. Here's the key:
1B, 2E, 3C, 4D, 5A. For the multiple choice (c): 1a, 2b, 3a, 4b, 5c.
Now look at exercise 5 VOCABULARY. It's about
word building, that is, creating words from other words, in this case, nouns. Go to page 236, Part 2. Read the box and then complete the chart in a. Listen to the recording. Then, try to form new words in ex c and fill in the gaps. Listen to the recording. You'll find the key to this in the Folder. If you want extra practice, try to do Worksheet Vocabulary 9A. You will find it in the Folder in the previous class.
Finally we are going to learn how to write
an email of complaint. For this, you need to go to page 194. For this kind of documents we have to use formal language and a specific format. The name, job and address of the person we are writing to have be included in the right top corner. Then, the date. Use
Dear Sir/Madam if you don't know the person's name or
Dear Ms/Mr (Smith) if you do. End the email with
Yours faithfully in the first case and
Yours sincerely in the second.
Complete the gaps in the letter and check your answers with the key in the Folder.
